With all the Mayan doomsday predictions and big Hollywood blockbusters, 2012 has many people anxious to know just exactly is in store for us this year.
Patrice Kamins, astrologer and creator of the Quantum Astrology video series One World In Concert, is here to give us the scoop on what themes you can expect to see this year in global events and popular culture from an alternative point of view.
I recently met Patrice through a mutual friend and was immediately and deeply impressed with her astrology skill and accuracy. Her unique fashion flair and New York straight-to-the-point communication style makes astrology sessions with her fun, comfortable and easy to understand.
I just had to sit down with Patrice and get you some insights for 2012:
JenniFDB: Hello Patrice thanks for joining me today, there are some people that are confused about astrology. Would you say astrology is a science or an art?
Patrice Kamins: I believe that astrology is a science but also benefits from an intuitive understanding of energy and symbols. The best astrologers have a great knowledge base and technical skill set coupled with an emotional intelligence and sense of compassion for the human experience.
JenniFDB: What inspired you on this path?
Patrice Kamins: Well, as Pluto is the God of destruction and rebirth, my Pluto transit impelled me to discover a new way of seeing the world. Around the time of 9/11, a series of difficult life challenges, including divorce, job loss, a forced move and the death of a sister through domestic violence, brought my previous existence to an end. In the search for answers, I found astrology to be one of the most profound and effective tools for understanding the complexity of human life and the intersection of the physical, emotional and spiritual realms. It also allowed me to understand the dignity and purpose of suffering but also provided the means of returning myself to wholeness.
JenniFDB: That’s beautiful that you’ve found your vehicle of knowledge. It’s a new year and often it’s the time of year that people for understanding or a new position in the world. What would you say are some of the major themes we can expect to see this year?
Patrice Kamins: Great question Jenni, 2012 will bring us some very new developments and here are a few we can look forward to except:
Politically — I believe we are moving into a more progressive chapter in our history, both in the United States and abroad. This is due to the passage of Uranus in Aries which speaks to liberation from tyranny and the destruction of corrupt forms. Occupy Wallstreet will continue to grow exponentially and perhaps gain a more serious level of participation, even from the ranks of a few brave politicians.
As far as the US job market — Concurrent with Uranus’ move into Aries and Pluto’s presence in Capricorn (destroying entrenched power structures), we will see a continuing implosion of corporations built on shaky and disreputable foundations. Areas of growth would include technology, environmental and recyclable products and services, transportation including high speed rail and alternative solutions to connecting people,
On a more mundane level, if you have or learn a practical skill such as plumbing, electrical work, car repair, shoe repair, tailoring, etc. you may find your business beginning to grow as individuals we begin to move away from our built-in obsolescence culture to one that respects good craftsmanship and respect for our products and machines.
Relationships — As Saturn is wrapping up his tour in Libra this year, we will find many long-term relationships ending while new associations are developing. Saturn provides an exit point so if you feel like you’re beating a dead horse when it comes to your current partnership, this is the time to listen to his promptings.
For those who are looking for a new relationship paradigm, Uranus and Neptune will help us redefine partnerships based on supporting each other’s conscious growth and creativity. Those signs most likely to be affected by endings (followed by the potential for new lovers) include Libra, Aries, Cancer and Capricorn while romance can befall those with strong signatures in Virgo and Pisces.
And mid-year, with Venus joining to the Sun in Gemini, we may all achieve a greater integration of self and find the love of our life!
JenniFDB: Any special dates to note for the first quarter of this year (Jan- March)?
Patrice Kamins: While the first half of the year is eclipse-free, we do have several transits that will affect us in our personal and professional lives. Mars retrogrades in the sign of Virgo on Jan 23rd, causing us to fine-tune important details and reconnect with men from the past. If there is a delay in a project or relationship, the retrograde, which continues through April 13th, gives us the time to figure out what needs to be corrected before we can move forward.
Neptune (planet of romance, spirituality and the arts) moves permanently into Pisces, the sign of its rulership on Feb 3rd. This heralds a new era around creativity and the arts and also begins a new dream in our own lives that will unfold over the next 14 years.
Saturn turns retrograde in Libra on February 8th so will give us a hint as to what truly needs to end or solidify in our relationship lives. If we haven’t let go out old relationships or behavior patterns, this can feel pretty bad as we are made aware of how destructive or painful the current setup is. If you are on the verge of a new relationship and it feels promising, you can start to develop a stronger foundation and eliminate baggage from the past.
The spring equinox on March 21st is the astrological beginning of the year as this is the day of the first degree of the first sign of Aries. The equinoxes and solstices have been pretty powerful these last few years as the larger planets of change, Pluto, Saturn and Uranus, have been in the early degrees of the cardinal signs, activating major new beginnings. So whatever wants to blossom forth will gain a new impetus on or around the first day of spring.
Additionally, Jupiter (planet of luck) is moving forward in Taurus, so we can begin to consolidate goals on a financial and material level from now until mid-summer.
JenniFDB: Thank you for a very detailed overview Patrice; seems like we have an exciting first quarter ahead. So I understand you do a video series where you provide frequent updates, can you give us more insight about your One World in Concert series?
Patrice Kamins: To quote Albert Einstein, “You cannot solve a problem from the same consciousness that created it. You must learn to see the world anew.”
Since we are in a very critical and important time in human history–and we can all feel that change is imminent–I felt that it was important to provide an alternative perspective to all the opinions and advice offered in the traditional and/or popular media. We can get caught in a limited horizontal reality of facts and details and going around in circles, or we can look at things from a vertical perspective, understanding events from a more expansive point of view.
And in terms of my title, in all honesty, the phrase Metaphysical Correspondent partly came from watching the Daily Show with its cavalcade of satirical correspondents from Senior British person to Senior Mineral Extraction Correspondent. But in all seriousness, if we have weather reporters and political reporters, why not reporters from the front lines of astrological practice and perception?
My intention is to shift us away from pure ego consciousness to connecting to our higher selves and in that way, we will all benefit and become more capable of solving our problems.
JenniFDB: Thank you again Patrice! I look forward to having you on future shows, can you please let us reader know the best way to keep in contact with you?
Patrice Kamins: It’s been a pleasure Jenni, as I always say, “Rather than be a victim of fate, be a co-creator of your destiny!”
